HC Deb 04 July 1939 vol 349 cc1139-40W
Sir A. Wilson

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that Weits disease, denned as an infectious disease in which the presence or the activity of the microorganism spirochaete, leptospira, ictero-haemorrhagiae has been demonstrated, has been scheduled as an industrial disease in Queensland under the Workmen's Compensation Acts (Amendment) Act of 1936; and if he will consider similar action in Britain under the same definition?

Mr. Peake

I am aware that the infection in question has been made the subject of compensation under Queensland law. As regards this country, I would refer to the answer given to my hon. and gallant Friend on the 25th May. My right hon. Friend's inquiries are not quite complete, but he contemplates making the Order very shortly.
