The number of persons who applied for and failed to obtain old age pensions under the Contributory Pensions Acts in each year from 1930 to 1938 was as follows:

1930–21,684 1935–15,083.
1931–17,056 1936–13,630.
1932–15,971. 1937–15,469.

1934–13,882.
