asked the Minister of Transport whether he is prepared to recommend that the 12-journey omnibus tickets be made valid for six months; that the unused part of the tickets be subject to refund; and that the public using these tickets be not required to sign them?

Mr. Burgin

No, Sir. The Traffic Commissioners for the Northern Traffic Area decided to attach certain conditions to road service licences in regard to the issue of 12-journey tickets. One local authority appealed to me under Section 81 of the Road Traffic Act of 1930, against this decision. After causing a local Inquiry to be held, I decided to uphold the Commissioners' decision. Having given my decision, I have no power to re-open the matter.
