HC Deb 12 December 1939 vol 355 c1065W
Colonel Wedgwood

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he can give an estimate, or the exact figures, of the consumption of petrol for motor cars during the last three months, and the comparative figures for 1938?

Mr. Lloyd

In present circumstances I do not consider that it would be in the national interest to publish this information.

Mr. Benjamin Smith

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he has decided to agree to the request for an additional petrel allowance for taximeter-cabs and private-hire vehicles to meet the increased demands of the Christmas season?

Mr. Lloyd

I have carefully considered the hon. Member's suggestion, but I regret I should not feel justified in providing an extra allowance of petrol for this purpose.
