Mrs. Adamsonasked the Minister of Health whether he will consider an extension of power to local authorities to enable them to provide a service of home helps 2651W generally, in cases of non-infectious illness and also to assist aged persons, similar to the existing service of home helps for expectant and nursing mothers and children under five years of age, under Section 204 of the Public Health Act, 1936; and whether he will ascertain the views of the local government associations on this matter?
§ Mr. ElliotThere is no statutory provision which would empower local authorities to provide a service of home helps in the circumstances envisaged. I fear I could not undertake to introduce legislation as suggested.
