§ Mr. Burkeasked the Minister of Labour whether he proposes to extend the policy of giving statutory effect to wages agreements in the cotton industry; and, if so, when he proposes to enter into negotiations with the trade unions concerned?
§ Mr. E. BrownThe proposal for extension which has been made to me involves other industries and other areas and it will be necessary to have consultations with the many employers' organisations and trade unions concerned. I have not thought it to be desirable to enter into such discussions during the consideration of the Cotton Industry (Reorganisation) Bill but I am now prepared for discussions at any time convenient to the interests concerned.
