§ Mr. R. C. Morrisonasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the firm of Walls' Ice Cream engage men who are in other employment during the week for Sunday work only; that this is done with the knowledge and consent of his Department; and will he take steps to end this undesirable practice?
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydNo, Sir. So far as I am aware, the vacancies notified to Employment Exchanges by Messrs. Wall and Sons are for persons who are prepared to accept full-time employment as ice-cream salesmen. In any event the form of engagement alleged in the question would not require my hon. Friend's consent and is not subject to his control.
