HC Deb 03 April 1939 vol 345 c2463W
Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Secretary of State for War what are the qualifications of persons described as registered opticians, Royal Army Medical Corps; and what steps he takes to see that the public is not misled by the incorrect use of such a description?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

A certain number of personnel were specially enlisted as opticians during the Great War on producing evidence of having passed either of the following examinations:

  1. (a)Associate Member of the British Optical Association.
  2. (b)Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.

I have no power of preventing the incorrect use of the description referred to.
