§ Mr. W. R. Duckworth
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether motor vehicles operated by the Defence forces are subject to tax at the same rate as 1786W privately-owned vehicles; whether their fuel is subject to the 9d. per gallon duty; and, if so, whether he can form any estimate of the annual cost involved?
§ Sir J. Simon
The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative and to the second part in the affirmative. The estimated amount of the fuel duty on the consumption of the Defence forces is about £200,000 a year.
