§ Mr. Thurtleasked the Home Secretary what evidence of a documentary character there is in his Department to show that ex-Inspector John Syme accepted the payment made to him in 1931 as compensation for the injury done to him, resulting in the ending of his career in the police service by an admittedly unfounded report of a superior officer?
§ Mr. LloydIt was regarded as an essential part of the settlement of 1931 that the terms should be accepted by Mr. Syme, and before the settlement was finally made a copy of the statement subsequently made in the House was shown to Mr. Syme and he signified his acceptance by an endorsement on this document. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the document.
