HC Deb 09 February 1938 vol 331 c1079W
Mr. Tinker

asked the Minister of Transport how many accidents have taken place on the railways during the last 12 months through a moving train coming in contact with a stationary one, and how many lives have been lost?

Mr. Burgin

Provisional figures for 1937 show that there were 77 accidents of this nature. In 75 of these accidents no one was killed. In the remaining two, which occurred at Battersea and Castlecary, the fatalities were 10 and 35 respectively.
