§ Mr. ElliotI am informed by the Corporation of Glasgow that during the last three years the Public Assistance Department paid, in whole or in part, the expenses of the funerals of 1,428 persons, at a total cost to the department of £2,954. With regard to the second part of the question, an average figure would, I think, be misleading in view of the fact that in many cases only part of the cost was met by the Corporation.
