§ Mr. Manderasked the Minister of Health whether he will consider the advisability of introducing legislation to amend Section 12 of the Town Planning Act, so as to provide that all plans received by planning authorities should be referred either to properly qualified advisory panels or to officers or consultants with full architectural qualifications for advice on their design and external appearance?
§ Mr. Bernays:I do not think that the object desired by the hon. Member could be best secured in the way he suggests. Extended use is being made by local authorities of the kind of advice which the hon. Member has in mind, and I think the desired object is most likely to be obtained by the administrative encouragement which my right hon. Friend will continue to give to this course.
