asked the Minister of Agriculture, what are the prices of the principal agricultural commodities in England to-day, including any future prices definitely determined, such as the sugar-beet price for next year, compared with the prices ruling on 14th November, 1935?

The following table shows the average prices of the principal agricultural products in England and Wales on specified dates in November, 1935, and November, 1937.

Wholesale contract prices of liquid milk per gallon to the producer for the remainder of the current contract year ending in September, 1938, have been fixed as follows:—December to February—1s. 6d.; March—1s. 5d.; April—1s. 4d.; May to July—1s. 1d.; August to September—1s. 3d. Basic prices for sugar beet for the year beginning 1st April, 1938, have been fixed at 43s. to 44s. 6d. per ton varying according to the factory concerned, and subject to an addition or deduction of 3d. for each 0.1 per cent. by which the sugar content is above or below 15½ per cent.
