HC Deb 23 November 1937 vol 329 c1065W
Sir G. Mitcheson

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the traffic congestion caused by fixing tramcar and omnibus stops on the near side of traffic lights; and whether he will inquire into the matter with a view to a change of policy?

Mr. Burgin

Full examination of this question and practical experience have shown clearly that, save in exceptional circumstances, the approach side of traffic lights is definitely to be preferred for tramcar and omnibus stops from the point of view both of public safety and of convenience of the movement of traffic. If my hon. Friend has any special case in mind, I shall be pleased to inquire info it.
