asked the right hon. and gallant Member for Rye as representing the Forestry Commissioners, how many men are employed at Kidder who come from Haltwhistle, being the only Special Area within 15 miles?

No men are employed by the Forestry Commission at Kielder who come from Haltwhistle but 26 men from that town are employed at Warke Forest adjacent to Kidder.

Thirty-nine men whose normal occupation was formerly agricultural are employed by the Forestry Commission at Kidder.

asked the right hon. and gallant Member for Rye as representing the Forestry Commissioners, how many men are employed at the Slaley Forest; and how many of these have been recruited from a Special Area?

Three men are employed by the Forestry Commission at Slaley Forest at present. None of these has been recruited from a Special Area but all come from the district covered by the Commission's Special Areas afforestation scheme.
