HC Deb 18 November 1937 vol 329 c590W
Mr. Ammon

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he has considered the communication from certain pensioned civil servants who retired between February, 1922, and July, 1934, in which it is alleged that pensions were unjustifiably cut by 25 per cent.; and whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

I have not received the communication referred to by the hon. Member; nor is it accurate to say that pensions were reduced in the manner suggested. I have, however, received representations from certain civil service pensioners who while serving were in receipt of cost-of-living bonus. They asked for the retrospective revision of lump-sum awards made on their retirement in so far as relates to such bonus. I have replied that I regretted to be unable to accede to this request.
