§ Major Carverasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he can investigate the number of turkeys which are now being raised for the Christmas market in this country, with a view to ensuring that adequate facts are available in connection with the duty on the imported product?
§ Mr. W. S. MorrisonIn order to obtain more precise information of the number of turkeys available for the Christmas trade, special inquiries were made this year to ascertain the number of turkeys on 4th September on agricultural holdings of over one acre in extent in Great Britain. These inquiries show that the number increased from 800,000 on 4th June to 1,148,000 on 4th September.
