Mr. Parker

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will state the number of cadets entered for the executive and engineering branches through Dartmouth College at the age of 13, and the public schools at 17 to 18; the number of Royal Marine officers entered each year during the years 1931 to 1937; and the number of promotions to commissioned rank from the lower deck in the three branches in the same period?

The figures asked for in respect of the years 1931–1936 were given to the hon. Member on 25th November last.

For r937 the number of cadets entered is as follows

Dartmouth 146
Special Entry:
Executive 120
Engineering 50
First Appointments, Royal Marines (other than Corps Commissioners) 43
The number of promotions to commissioned rank direct from the lower deck during 1937 is:
Executive 13
Engineering 8
Corps Commissions, Royal Marines, from the ranks (other than through warrant rank) 2
