Mr. Lipson

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will state the num- bers of persons injured and killed, respectively, while pillion riding on motor cycles during the last 12 months; and what percentages they represent of the total numbers of those injured and killed in road accidents?

Mr. Burgin

During the ten months ended 31st October, 1937, the numbers of persons killed or injured while pillion riding on motor cycles were respectively 159, or 2.9 per cent. of the killed, and 6,697, or 3.5 per cent. of the injured, in all road accidents during the period.
