HC Deb 10 November 1937 vol 328 c1781W
Mr. R. Gibson

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has given further consideration to representations about the train service from London to Scotland on Fridays after 4 p.m.; and if he is in a position to make a further statement?

Mr. Burgin

I understand that the hon. and learned Member is anxious that the Coronation Express should leave King's Cross on Fridays at 5 p.m. instead of 4 p.m. The London and North Eastern Railway Company inform me that it was found to be impracticable to run this train at any time later than 4 p.m. without interfering with other important trains and causing dissatisfaction amongst the travelling public.

Mr. R. Gibson

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will consider the inconvenience caused to persons desirous of travelling from Glasgow to Edinburgh, in respect that the last available train leaves Glasgow at 9.50 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays; and whether he will make representations to the railway companies concerned to provide a train that will leave Glasgow about 11 p.m. for Edinburgh?

Mr. Burgin

I am in communication with the railway companies concerned and will let the hon. and learned Member know the result.
