HC Deb 04 November 1937 vol 328 c1137W
Major Milner

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury on what basis and at what rate per cent. Income Tax is levied, respectively, on foreign-controlled film renting and on foreign-controlled cinema-owning concerns carrying on business through limited companies or otherwise in this country; and whether he will state the approximate total amount of Income Tax recovered there-from, respectively, during the latest convenient Income Tax year?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

Income Tax at the standard rate is charged on the profits of the concerns referred to under the provisions of the Income Tax Acts relating to the profits of trades and businesses in general. I regret that the information asked for in the second part of the question is not available.
