HC Deb 19 March 1937 vol 321 cc2460-2W
Mr. T. Morris

asked the President of the Board of Trade how the steel position in the country is affected by the international scrap-iron and steel agreement just concluded in Paris?

Mr. Runciman

I am informed that this agreement between the industries concerned regarding iron and steel scrap is intended to ensure improved and equitable distribution of imported supplies among the various countries. It is hoped that the assurance of supplies of scrap will benefit the United Kingdom steel industry.
