asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will state the number and total value of horses imported into Great Britain from Belgium and Holland, respectively, during the last 12 months for which statistics are available; and whether any duty was paid on horses so imported?

During the year 1936, 3,211 horses, valued at £120,386, were imported into the United Kingdom from Belgium, and 507 horses, valued at £23,603, from the Netherlands. No duty was payable on these imports.
