HC Deb 15 March 1937 vol 321 cc1654-5W
Mr. Parker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when the Government propose to introduce legislation to give men and women equal pay for equal work in the Civil Service and thus set an example for private firms?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

The policy underlying the general practice of differentiating in the pay of men and women civil servants in the same grade was explained at length by the Prime Minister during the course of the Debate on 6th April last. No change in this policy is contemplated.
