§ Mr. E. BrownAt 7th June, 1937, the latest date for which figures are available, there were 8,307 wholly unemployed men aged 18 years and over registered at Merseyside Employment Exchanges as applicants for work as seamen. At 1st June, 1936, the number was 10,146.
