HC Deb 02 July 1937 vol 325 c2324W
Sir A. Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for War what proportion of personnel of the British Army was born in Scotland and Ireland, respectively, according to the figures obtained at the last census of population; and whether he has reason to think that the proportions have changed materially since then?

Per cent.
1931—Proportion born in Scotland 8.5
1931—Proportion born in Ireland 4.9
1936—Proportion born in Scotland 9.6
1936—Proportion born in Ireland 5.1
