HC Deb 23 February 1937 vol 320 cc1841-2W
Mr. Hepworth

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether in view of the great increase in imports of raw materials in January last, he can state what percentage of these came from the Dominions, from the Colonies, from the mandated territories, and from non-Empire countries, respectively?

and buildings and the acquisition of clearance rights over adjoining areas.

Mr. Runciman

Imports from British countries of goods classified in the trade returns as raw materials and articles mainly unmanufactured represented about 40 per cent. of the total value of such imports in January. I fear that the further subdivision asked for by my hon. Friend could not be made, even approximately, without an expenditure of time and labour which I do not think would be justified.
