§ Captain Pluggeasked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the assistance given to the cinema industry by current legislation, he can state the number of British films completed or started, respectively, in 1937, grouping them according to their length and the approximate outlay on each of them?
§ Captain WallaceI fear I have no information as to the number of British films completed or started during the present year or as to their approximate cost. Two hundred and nineteen long films and 209 short films (that is films below 3,000 feet) have so far been registered as British during 1937 under the provisions of the Cinematograph Films Act, 1927.
