HC Deb 12 April 1937 vol 322 cc626-7W
Mr. T. Morris

asked the Secretary of State for War whether in view of the increased programme for the defence of our shores, he will consider restoring all coastguards to their former strength?

Dr. Burgin

I have been asked to reply. If at any time it should be considered desirable in the national interest to increase the strength of His Majesty's Coastguard, this would, of course, be done, but I know of no reason at present for any such increase.
