Mr. Creech Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he has any information as to whether any British Dominion has yet reached a decision in regard to the ratification of the Native Recruitment International Labour Office Convention, 1936; and whether the 383W Convention will be ratified by His Majesty's Government in respect to the South African Protectorate?
Marquess of Harting tonI understand that the Government of the Union of South Africa have decided not to ratify the Convention. I have no information as to the intentions of the other Dominions. The question of the application of the Convention to the High Commission Territories in South Africa is at present under consideration.
