§ Sir J. SIMONA conviction of infanticide may result not only from an indictment for that offence, but also from an indictment for murder or manslaughter. The following table gives in column (1) the number of women who were indicted for an offence involving the killing of their newly-born children, and in column (2) the number who were convicted of infanticide, during each of the years 1931 to 1935:—
