HC Deb 26 February 1936 vol 309 cc462-3W
Mr. W. H. GREEN

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will represent to the Transport Board that it is undesirable to divert omnibuses permanently from their recognised route without either notifying or consulting with the local highway authority, as was done recently in the metropolitan borough of Deptford; and will he take steps to ensure that, in future, the local authority is notified prior to such action?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

It is the practice of the board before varying routes to-notify local authorities at the same time as the proposal is submitted to the Traffic Commissioners for their approval. I am informed that in the instance referred to by the hon. Member the authority were not notified in view of the apparently unimportant character of the diversion.
