HC Deb 02 December 1936 vol 318 c1273W
Mr. GROVES

asked the Minister of Labour on what evidence the Stratford Exchange has decided that Edwin Sheldrake, 33, Preston Road, Stratford, was 66 years of age on 30th November; and whether he is aware that Edwin Sheldrake does not appear in the records at Somerset House?

Mr. E. BROWN

I understand that it was explained to him at the Exchange that according to the Departmental records his age was over 65, and suggestions were made to him as to the kind of evidence he might be able to produce for the purpose of establishing his correct age. No formal decision was given, but arrangements have now been made for obtaining such a decision, as regards unemployment benefit from the insurance officer, and there will be the usual right of appeal against this decision.
