HC Deb 09 April 1936 vol 310 c2966W
Major RAYNER

asked the Home Secretary whether, in connection with the Shops (Sunday Trading Restriction) Bill, he has taken steps to consult the local authorities and seaside and health resorts as to their views on aspects of the measure which especially affect them?

Sir J. SIMON

No such steps have been taken by me, but I understand that the attention of the Associations representing the local authorities has been directed to this Bill, and if there are any points on which they wish to make representations, they will no doubt communicate with me or with the promoters of the Bill. I propose to make some special inquiries in regard to the application of the Bill in the case of the seaside resorts and certain other areas likely to be specially affected.
