§ Mr. E. J. WILLIAMSasked the Minister of Health whether he has been in touch with the British Medical Association with regard to maternity services; and, in view of their contention that a unified public health service is the most sure means of reducing maternal and infant mortality; what action he proposes to take in this matter?
§ Sir K. WOODYes, Sir. I have recently received a deputation from the Association on this subject. I stated that I should give further consideration to their proposals after I had received the report of my medical officers who are making special investigations in the areas in which the maternal mortality rate is high.
