The following statement shows the number of serving Civil Servants (other than S class clerks) transferred to the Unemployment Assistance Board, the various Government Departments from which they were transferred, and the number of cases in which transfer was accompanied by promotion:

asked the Minister of Labour the number of officers of the Unemployment Assistance Board and the staff employed in each divisional area, and the approximate number of applicants for allowances in each of their areas?

Mr. STANLEY

The staff of the Unemployment Assistance Board, headquarters and outstations, in post on the 18th March, 1935, numbered 6,264 (excluding cleaners). Details of their allocation, together with the approximate number of applicants for allowances at the same date, are as follow:
