§ Sir J. GILMOURI will give the figures for 1934 and 1935 to date for the boroughs of Bethnal Green, Stepney, Hackney, Shoreditch and Stoke Newington. In 1934, 36 applications were received and four—all new ones—were refused. This year 26 applications have already been received, four have been granted, 16 are still under consideration, and in six cases—all previously approved—permission has been withheld. In every case the Commissioner of Police has acted on the advice of his advisory committee.
