HC Deb 25 July 1935 vol 304 cc2023-4W
Mr. EVERARD

asked the Minister of Transport the number of fatal and nonfatal accidents in the city and county of Leicester, respectively, since the speed limit has been in force, and the corresponding figures for the same period before the speed limit came into operation?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

The numbers of persons reported as having died or as having been injured during the 17 weeks ended 13th July, 1935, as a result of road accidents in the city and county of Leicester, respectively, and the numbers for the corresponding period of 1934, are as follow:

Sir G. COLLINS

The latest published report of the accountant of the Department (that is, for the year 1933–34), shows that the annual charge for the administrative expenditure of the 35 education authorities was £379,236, or 3.2 per cent. of the total annual expenditure of £11,931,785. The percentage has been practically the same in each year since 1928. For particular authorities the percentage ranges from 1.9 to 5.7 per cent. during the last seven years.
