HC Deb 16 July 1935 vol 304 cc879-80W
Sir W. EDGE

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has received any representations from farmers' organisations on the subject of agricultural credits, with especial reference to the facilities offered by the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation; and whether his information shows that there is satisfaction or criticism with regard to these credits?

Mr. ELLIOT

Yes, Sir. Representations have been recently received on the subject referred to in which there has been some criticism of the scheme, mainly owing to the fact that by reason of the terms upon which the Corporation's debenture stock was issued and the advances were made, it has not been found possible for the Corporation to reduce interest rates to existing borrowers.
