§ Mr. HACKINGAccording to the official handbooks, the approximate area of the Union of South Africa is 472,550 square miles; of the Mandated Territory of South-West Africa, 317,725 square miles, and of the self-governing colony of Southern Rhodesia, 150,344 square miles, making a total of 940,619 square miles, which represents approximately 8 per cent. of the total area of the whole continent of Africa (namely 11½ million square miles).
