HC Deb 15 June 1934 vol 290 cc2046-7W
Mr. R. T. EVANS

asked the President of the Board of Trade the tonnage of tinplates exported from South Wales in each of the years from 1929 to 1932, inclusive, also the countries of destination?

Dr. BURGIN

The following statement shows the total tonnage of the exports of the undermentioned descriptions of coated plates and sheets of iron and steel from the ports of Swansea, Cardiff, Llanelly, Newport (Mon.), and Port Talbot during each of the years 1929 to 1932.

There were no exports of the goods in question from Milford Haven during these years.

Information as to the countries of consignment of goods exported from individual ports is not available. The aggregate exports of tinplates from the above ports, however, represent a very substantial proportion of the total exports of such goods from the United Kingdom, and the principal countries of consignment of these exports will be found on pages 86 and 87 of Volume III of the "Annual Statement of the Trade of the United Kingdom, 1932."
