HC Deb 17 November 1933 vol 281 c1185W
Brigadier-General BROWN

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the increase of lawlessness and piracy in the vicinity of Hong Kong and the general uncertainty of the situation in China, steps have been taken or are in contemplation to bring the defences of Hong Kong up to modern requirements and to give security to foreigners living there?

The PRIME MINISTER

There have been no recent increases in the defences of Hong Kong. It is incorrect to say that there has been any increase recently in lawlessness and piracy in that vicinity.
