HC Deb 26 May 1933 vol 278 cc1436-7W
Captain SOTHERON-ESTC0URT

asked the Secretary for Mines what has been the average price of heavy hydrocarbon fuel oil in Great Britain during each quarter of the past three years?

Mr. E. BROWN

The prices of heavy fuel oils vary greatly, according to the qualities and quantities of the oil required and the point of consumption, and it is impracticable to furnish average figures per quarter. The schedule rates of the principal oil companies for contracts of 100 tons, or over, of furnace fuel oils, have been as follow during the last few years:

Furnace Fuel Oil.
Per ton.

† Heavy furnace fuel.

All the above prices are ex-ocean installation, and delivered rates would be appreciably higher, according to distance and method of delivery, e.g., rail, road or barge. On the other hand, large consumers, no doubt obtain substantial reductions in the above prices.
