HC Deb 25 May 1933 vol 278 c1281W
Sir I. SALMON

asked the Minister of Health whether development councils are being formed in the depressed areas and co-operating with the Travel and Industrial Development Association; and how many local authorities are supoprting the Travel and Industrial Development Association on its industrial and on its travel side, respectively, under the powers conferred upon them by the Local Authorities (Publicity) Act, 1931?

Sir H. YOUNG

Local industrial development councils have been established in England and Wales for Lancashire, South Wales, and on the North East Coast, and I am informed by the Travel and Industrial Development Association that about 145 local authorities interested in industrial expansion have become subscribers to that association, usually through local development councils, and that about 100 local authorities are subscribing to the association on its travel side.
