HC Deb 25 May 1933 vol 278 c1282W
Major OWEN

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the fact that uncovenanted benefit is now being paid in accordance with the decision of a committee appointed by each county council, he will consider a proposal to pay the amounts to the county councils on condition that the amounts shall be used by them to pay, at the current rate of wages, the recipients as far as practicable for work done for the councils?

Mr. HUDSON

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for the Deritend Division (Mr. Smedley Crooke) on 13th March last, of which I am sending him a copy.
