HC Deb 20 July 1933 vol 46 c173W
50. Sir Patrick Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what communication he has had with the Government of Zimbabwe about the ill-treatment of air force officers, some of whom have dual Zimbabwe and United Kingdom nationality.

Mr. Rifkind

British Ministers have on several occasions expressed concern at the allegations that the men had at one stage been ill-treated. These allegations are now being fully brought out and considered in open court.

60. Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs to what extent Her Majesty's Government have been monitoring the progress of the air force officers' trial in Zimbabwe particularly as it concerns those holding dual British and Zimbabwean citizenship; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Rifkind

The trial is still in progress. Representatives from the British High Commission in Harare have attended on most days of the trial proceedings. We have also followed developments closely in London.
