HC Deb 20 July 1933 vol 46 c169W
24. Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will invite representatives of the League of Arab States to London to discuss revoking the mandate for their intervention force in Lebanon, with a view to bringing about the withdrawal of the Syrian army and the activation of the agreement for Israeli withdrawal dated 17 May between Israel and the Lebanon, and witnessed by the United States of America.

63. Mr. Campbell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions Her Majesty's Government have had with Lebanon, Syria and Israel to facilitate the early implementation of the Israel-Lebanese agreement; and whether he has received any assurances that Syria and the Palestine Liberation Organisation will withdraw from Lebanese territory.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

I refer my hon. Friend and the hon. Member to the reply I gave earlier to my hon. Friend the Member for Ilford, South (Mr. Thorne).

59. Mr. Jim Callaghan

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will initiate diplomatic activity in the United Nations Security Council, in order to assist Lebanon in its request to both Syria and the Palestine Liberation Organisation forces to end the occupation of Lebanese sovereign territory.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

We have at present no plans to do so, but if the Lebanese Government were to make such a request we would consider it carefully.
