HC Deb 20 July 1933 vol 46 c154W
Mr. Murphy

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will list the companies for which he is responsible that it is intended to denationalise during the next five years.

Mr. Cecil Parkinson

In the course of the present Parliament I intend to oversee the privatisation, either in whole or in part, of the British Steel Corporation, British Shipbuilders, British Telecom, BL did Rolls-Royce. This list is not necessarily exhaustive as the possibilities for privatisation are kept under review.

In addition, the National Enterprise Board, now part of the British Technology Group, is required under its 1980 statutory guidelines to divest itself of all its investments to private ownership as soon as it is commercially practicable. The timing of this is a decision for the Board of the BTG.
