Mr. YOUNGasked the Secretary of State for India whether he is aware of the grave anxiety among military and civil servants of the Indian Government concerning the security of their pensions in the event of the provisions of the India White Paper passing into law; whether he is also aware that the few insurance societies which have until recently insured these pensions at a premium of 8 per cent. are now refusing to do so; and whether he will give an assurance that adequate safeguards will be provided to ensure the present recipients against loss?
§ Sir S. HOAREI have no information with regard to the attitude of insurance societies towards this class of business. With regard to the remainder of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Preston (Mr. Kirkpatrick) on 7th March, 1932.
